I am researching great places to hold a wedding with a crow from 150-250. Some place great that lends itself to dancing and of course it woudn't hurt if it didn't break the bank.

A friend of mine is having her wedding (in two weeks) on the Cherry Blossom (a boat that leaves dock from Alexandria). The couple is paying for the wedding themselves and this was a really affordable option (they are doing heavy hors since the boat leaves dock around 3). The ceremony is on the boat too.

Also, check out my list for all things bridal. Some things might help you locally (the photographers in particular).

The above place is extremely beautiful. I went to a wedding there last year in fall. The ceremony was at dusk and took place in the glass atrium, through which you could see all the red and orange and yellow fall leaves. Stunning. I would get married if I hadn't already picked Vermont.

If you want something closer to DC, there are different elegant historical buildings that you can rent for a day (
http://www.pgparks.com...). Newton White Mansion and the PG Ballroom are some of the better venues.
Also, if you read this online chat with Vicky Johnson on Washington Post (she's a very notable wedding planner in the area), you can get lots of ideas for venues within the Metro area:

Our reception was at The Great Falls Grange, one of the Fairfax historic properties. It was very reasonable.
Friends just got married at Meadowlark Gardens as well and it was lovely. Perfect for them at about 150 or so.

For some reason, no one has ever heard of the City Museum in downtown DC at 8th and K St NW next to the convention center. It's in the middle of the square and they hold private events there. Now, the area around it at night doesn't offer a lot of scenery, but the building itself is so classic and gorgeous. The staircase leading up to the doors would make for an amazing wedding party photo-op.

Me and my now ex got married at the Galleria at Lafayette Centre.

We had about 200 guests, and the place wasn't even close to packed. What was great about the place was it has two levels, so we had the ceremony at the bottom floor, then had cocktails on the upper floor while the catering company came in and set up tables etc for the reception. Bonus... the place is nice throughout, we didn't have to spend a fortune decorating the place.
