I'm looking for a market that sells fresh soft-shell crabs for me to make at home. Any suggestions?

Really hard to find soft shell crabs unless you find a store that has their own crabbing boat. Most are frozen then thawed out when displayed in the seafood case.

I agree with Thuy. Maine Avenue Fish Market aka The Marina is the best place for everything seafood.

You're in Silver Spring, Michelle? go to Cameron's Seafood on 16th St., right near where E/W Hghwy - 410 crosses 16th St.
Ask questions, like, "where did these come from? Maryland? or....?"
Softshells are supposed to be kept alive until prep time. That doesn't always happen.
If you don't want to cook them yourself, go to the Crisfield Restaurant on Georgia Ave, right at 410 - E/W Hghwy - it's a legendary Maryland seafood place which I consider to unequalled. There is nothing else even close around here. Their preparation of softshells is wonderful beyond description. I'm a Maryland boy, I speak from experience.

I actually called Cameron's first and they said they don't have them.
I saw this guy grilling them with a simple sauce of butter and Old Bay... I REALLY want to try it! That's why I'm trying to find them to make at home. I do appreciate hearing that Crisfield is great, though. I see it when I'm on the Metro but haven't been. I will gladly make soft shells at home and eat them when I'm out!
