katie from SF here.  my boyfriend (an aspiring artist) and i are coming out for a long weekend at the end of the month and he's very interested in checking out some of the smaller modern art galleries...

as my new york knowledge runs more toward restaurants and shopping, i'd love any insight you locals would have on particular galleries or good neighborhoods for us to check out.
