The venue is nice, but do be aware of parking. Come early to find a parking spot because this area is blooming with attractions and tons of people. Valet is a lame $25, so just park it yourself. The Granada is a bit old, and looks it too, but gives the place a more antique old-timey feel to it. Before you come, find out how your seating will be; all general (standing), all tables, or mostly tables and some general. Music is good, drinks are at a great price, and viewing distance is pretty awesome. There really aren't any bad seats in the venue. Enjoy!

The Granada is one of my favorite music venues, especially since they closed all of the venues from my high school days down. It's small, intimate and the staff are all really cool.

It was the first smokeless venue that I've been to, which isn't that big of a deal now since House of Blues and the Palladium are both smokeless... but as a non-smoker I still feel great going home after a concert and not feeling like I have to scrub myself for days to get the stink out.

I especially like the Granada because it is leveled. I have bad luck of getting behind a wall of 6'3" x 6' men that make it impossible to see the stage, no matter how many times I move. Since I am 5'10" and have this problem, I don't see how shorter people can see anything at all. But! The Granada is leveled and I have never once had a problem with gigantor and his friends standing in front of me.

Also, drinks are not terribly over priced. If I could give the Granada an extra star, I totally would.

Great place to see a show.  Beer was cold.  Music was loud.  Saw Kill Hannah there last night with Katy Kat.  Good show.  And for once I didn't come out of a small venue smelling like smoke and scratching my eyeballs.  The crowd looked like they just knocked over a Hot Topics, but that's what I get for liking a younger band.  Folks who worked there were really friendly.  I wish I could have seen Junior Brown there tonight.  That too would have been a good show.

I've loved this place for years! The other night at the Tilly show the whole staff was incredibly nice. The door guys were sweethearts and the bartenders were quick and friendly. The staggered standing areas ensure a good view from anywhere. Ice cold beers are always good too!

the granada staff, bands, and needle nose pliers warrant this five star review.

The Granada is a pure gem. Sure, there may be shiny, newer toys in the music venue sandbox but there is something to be said about the cool, quaint feel of a joint like the Granada.

The times I've been there it was set up with tables and chairs, which was very convenient. Great sightlines and sound. Plenty of room to move around (or god forbid, dance...which some venues seem bent on outlawing because everything can't possibly be a fire code violation). The prices for concessions are reasonable and for tickets beyond that.

I'm just sorry to see that some of the medium size acts that used to blow through town have opted for HOB (which I'll address separately) because I would love more excuses to visit the Granada. Folks, let's be sure to keep this place full, OK?

After finishing school in Austin, I didn't think Dallas could house a venue even close to 6th street's hole-in-the-walls without imploding into oblivion (I could only wish).  I stand (or sit, as it were) utterly corrected.

The Granada is a haven among the ordinary, a Mecca of fine music paired with a usual crowd of wonderfully interesting and unique people, something Dallas is hurtin' for.

Since the fall of the Gypsy Tea Room (a moment of silence, please), the Granada is all I have left.  Go there.  Who cares who's playing, cause you'll love just looking at the muraled walls and grandiose ceiling.  I second the notion that there is no bad seat in the house, no pimply teenage "ushers" trying to throw you out of a closer section, and in-your-face access to the stage within kicking distance of the band.

LOVE it.

Was only here for Jimmy Eat World last year so my review is solely based on that one experience. It was a hot, humid, rainy summer evening (typical for Dallas, I guess) and thankfully The Granada has  A/C! Especially great considering the night before I saw an outdoor show at Emo's in Austin which had no ventilation. There was some confusion as to where will call was. The sign where will call ended up being said it was somewhere else. I was surprised to see NO ONE in the pit. Turns out most folks went to the tiered raised level above the pit because the stage went up to my nose!! Really hard to see without straining your neck (I'm 5'7"). Anyway, ended up being a great show. Crowd didn't seem to give opener Maria Taylor a fair shot but thankfully Jimmy Eat World was in fine form! Even got some of Jim's sweat on me and when I asked for his pick, he went over and handed me a clean white towel :D

Woulda been nice if there was nearby public transit at night since I was doing my vacation on a cheap budget. And taxi cost me $18 to get to my downtown hotel. But who am I to complain. I live in LA where I have to drive EVERYWHERE.

There are two things I love in life and thats food and Live Music.  The granada theater offers a very intimate experience for any musical acts you see no matter how big or small.  There is not a bad seat in the house and usually it is no prob to get right up front to get your face melted off by one of the many amazing guitarist that play here!  The stuff is always friendly and its never hard to get a drink.  I noticed that most artists are members of the "jam" rock scene and you totally get that vibe from the venue as well.  I love this place....

5 stars as venues in DFW area go, anyway.  4 when competing with other city's venues.

There's hardly a bad seat (or standing area) in the place. The sound is better than you'll find at HOB or Palladium, or outdoor  / arena venues. The people who work there are friendly. It just makes seeing good acts easy. No driving to the ghetto or the far-away-middle-of-nowhere.

Whoever books bands for The Granada would make a great talent scout - I've never seen a bad show here, and they seem to attract all of my favorite unknown artists and their fans.  Very cool ceiling, decor, and atmosphere.  I love sitting upstairs - standing for 3 hours downstairs just isn't fun to me, even though it is closer.

Highly recommended - and if you don't recognize any of the musicians/bands, pick a random night and discover a new one, I doubt you will be disappointed by anyone that plays here.

The best live music venue in town.

I hope the House of Blues doesn't screw this up for all of us . . .

Great Intimate place to see a show...Everything runs pretty smooth here...the only drawback for me is that you cannot smoke cigarettes inside...and u can't drink your beer outside...makes it hard to give yourself the one two cig/beer punch...The sound is good here....the layout is cool with murals on the walls and upper level seating...I will continue to go hear...I love Greenville Avenue

I think the Granada is currently the best venue in Dallas.

It's a nice size and you're pretty much always close to the action. The sound is good and the building has character too, which is always an added plus.

This mid sized venue (approx. 1200) is a great place to see a show. The sound is excellent in all parts of the theatre.

Great beer selection, great sound, a layout condusive to seeing the stage, and I don't smell like an ashtray when I leave. If every show in DFW came to the Granada, my life would be significantly improved.

Came here last night to see the RX Bandits and Gym Class Heroes. It's not too big or anything but it was nice. It took us a while to get to the pit because security only let us move up when bands were changing out. They also have a 2nd level where you can watch from as well.  Drinks were fairly priced for a music venue.  My beers were about $3.50 a piece so I consider that cheap.

i can't say enough good things about this place. saw imperative reaction and vnv nation there back in june and it really made the show, as most venues can. not sure if it was sold out or not.. i'm guessing not. but despite a considerably sized crowd, it always managed to feel cozy as opposed to crowded. people dancing respectfully and not knocking into each other, friendly staff, and the venue itself is maintained very well. arrived a little late and the parking situation wasn't even an issue. again, i've been to a wide spectrum of concert venues across the country and this is another one that definitely stands out to me. kudos to the owners.

OMG I love this place!  I've seen some awesome concerts here - English Beat, Burning Spear, Blues Traveler.  Small venue - no bad seats.  Always a great time at the Granada!  Their new website has a "radio" feature to listen to the upcoming bands' songs. www.granada-theater.com
